"
The current generation of music lovers is more exposed to remix music purely because it is marketed more aggressively. It was the same way in the West maybe 10 or 20 years ago, and even now, there is an acute realization that in the cyber age, there is a need to preserve roots and traditional music, which has resulted in increased popularity. There is a real need to revive the tradition of mehfils and cultural activities that are part of festivals. The other are of effort should be to actively encourage Bollywood for the music industry to to promote indigenous music rather than focus on genres of Indian origin that are being brought in from the West. Like bhangra remixes and Asian
underground."
