Debashish Bhattacharya has taken the Hindustani slide guitar to new level.

Debashish is pictured on the back cover cuddling and armful of guitars, with a big grin on his face. "Yes I can play all these." he seems to be saying. Pandit (master) Debashish Bhattacharya is one amazing guitarist and he's designed 19 guitars so far. all he guitars heard on the album are unique - the Chataurangui, Gandharvi and the tiny Anandi ( slide ukulele) represent three generations o the Hindustani slide guitar. Added to that he has a three-finger picking style which gives him lightning speed.

Debashish creates Indian sounds similar to those of Classical Indian instruments, the sitar or sarod, but by innovation and technique he has taken the slide guitar to new levels.

I suspect the beauty is his smile comes from a life devoted to music. In fact, he says, " I also feel that my music is the expression of the unconditional love given to me by my parents and all the past generations before them." In the living tradition of India music, it's not the medium but the message.
