Bhattacharya is a musical prodigy who gave his first recital on All-India Radio aged four and continues to astound.
Inside the album booklet there's a photo of him clutching the three extraordinary self-made guitars he plays on this CD.
A small, ukulele-style guitar makes a capricious opening, but it's just a prelude to his exquisite performance on a large 14-string slide guitar, with which he created a world of wide-open spaces inhabited by wonderful details.
The third part of the recital is played on 22-string instrument that glows and shimmers.
The instruments are fascinating, and the music has a prefect balance of poetry and virtuosity.
Bhattacharya creates an other-worldly space of filigree patterns, textures and colors. He plays live at the Purcell Room on 11 May.
