
The 2010 New York Guitar Festival ( www.newyorkguitarfestival.org ) is extremely excited to announce that Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya, the Grammy-nominated master of Hindustani slide guitar and one of India’s most esteemed musicians, is confirmed to perform at FREE concert on the Fest’s opening night, Friday, January 8th, at 8pm, at the World Financial Center's Winter Garden in lower Manhattan. The guitar maestro Debashish's U.S. tours have caused quite a stir, from his lightning-fast playing to his spectacular interaction with brother Subhasis on tabla, to the custom slide guitars of up to 22 strings Chaturangui, 14 string gandharvi and 4 string Anandi that he made and played. From captivating festival sets to five hour public concerts to jamming with renown musicians such as Derek Trucks, Jerry Douglas and collaborating with John McLaughlin, Bob Brozman; Debashish's music, spirit, and generosity have won him new admirers and devotees around the world, and we are honored to have him opening our tenth anniversary festival.
